Accredited tests of toys safety - scope extension

Normal 0 21 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 On 28th May 2009 the Polish Centre for Accreditaion in Warsaw took a decision to sustain accreditation No. AB 910 for the KOMAG Laboratory of Material Engineering and Environment in Gliwice, in extended and up-dated scope.

The above mentioned directive enables accredited tests of toys safety, according to the requirements of standards harmonized with 88/378/EEC Directive, i.e.:

  • PN-EN 71-1 “Toys safety. Part 1. Mechanical and physical properties”,
  • PN-EN 71-2 “Toys safety. Part 2. Flammability”,
  • PN-EN 71-3 “Toys safety. Part 3. Migration of given elements”,
  • PN-EN 71-6 “Toys safety. Part 6. Warning graphical mark concerning the age”,
  • PN-EN 71-8 “Toys safety. Part 8. Swings, slides and similar activating toys – designed for indoor and outdoor domestic use”,
  • PN-EN 62115 “Electric toys – safety of using”*/.

The scope of accredited laboratory tests also covers a determination of contents of dangerous substances and preparations, such as phthalates, aromatic amines and azo dyes*/, in toys, materials for toys and healthcare goods for children, according to REACH Decree and PN-EN 71-9 Standard “Organic chemical compounds. Requirements”.

Moreover, the Laboratory offers accredited tests of equipment of playgrounds and surfaces*/, according to the requirements of the following standards:

  • PN-EN 1176-1 “Equipment of playgrounds and surfaces – Part 1. General safety requirements and methods of testing”,
  • PN-EN 1176-2 “Equipment of playgrounds and surfaces - Part 2. Additional safety requirements and methods of testing the swings”,
  • PN-EN 1176-3 “Requirements of playgrounds and surfaces – Part 3. Additional safety requirements and methods of testing the slides”,
  • PN-EN 1176-5 “Equipment of playgrounds and surfaces – Part 5. Additional safety requirements and methods of testing the merry-go-rounds”,
  • PN-EN 1176-6 “Equipment of playgrounds and surfaces – Part 6. Additional safety requirements and methods of testing the swinging equipment”,
  • PN-EN 1177 “Shock-absorbing surfaces of playgrounds – Determination of critical height of fall”.
