On 10-11.07.2023 representatives of KOMAG Institute – Dariusz Michalak, Ph.D. and Kamil Szewerda, Ph.D., took part in the opening meeting of the CoalHeritage (Conservation and promotion of the Coal Mining Heritage as EU's cultural legacy). Due to its more than 70-year tradition of creating solutions for mining, KOMAG Institute is one of the key partners in the project coordinated by CERTH - CENTRE FOR RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY HELLAS.
The consortium also includes: PREMOGOVNIK VELENJE d.o.o., BUREAU DE RECHERCHES GEOLOGIQUES ET MINIERES, GIG RESEARCH INSTITUTE and DMT-GESELLSCHAFT FÜR LEHRE UND BILDUNG mbH. The aim of the project is to develop an interregional network for the protection and promotion of coal mining heritage in post-mining regions. The network, having identified, inventoried and valorised the assets of the selected mines, will develop a preservation strategy based on best practices and create a Visual Map Journal and organise workshops to promote the project results among stakeholders. It is assumed that both traditional solutions and the latest technologies such as VR and AR will be used.
This project has received funding from the Research Fund for Coal and Steel under Grant Agreement No 101112138 - CoalHeritage
