The Division of Powered Roof Supports realizes scientific, R&D and implementation projects as regards machines and equipment supporting the roof, especially powered roof support.

We offer:

  • Development of concepts as regards:

-    new solutions of powered roof supports,
-    modernization of existing powered roof supports,
-    solutions of powered roof supports of special application, e.g. face end supports,
-    solutions of individual support of special application, e.g. rescue support,
-    structure and hydraulic systems of powered roof supports as well as individual and special supports,
-    hydraulic supply and control systems of powered roof supports,
-    full installations of pipelines.

  • Participation in work of the commissions appointed by the Managers of Mining Plant Operations to asses technical condition of powered roof supports on the basis of the regulations, which are in force – as the Notified Body representatives.
  • Development of opinions concerning use of different types of powered roof supports in longwall faces on the basis of the KOMAG expert authorization issued by the President of the State Mining Authority.
  • Supervision over laboratory tests  of powered roof supports, supervision over manufacture and implementation of design solutions of machines and equipment, technical consultancy on designing, manufacture and operation of powered roof  supports, analyses and calculations with use of computer technologies.

R&D projects as regards machines and equipment for wheel, conveyor and rail transportation as well as designs for technology and machinery industry for materials displacement and transportation systems are realized at the Division of Horizontal Transportation.
We also realize projects for modernization of operating machines and equipment as well as designs of additional equipment for the existing machines.

  • Self-propelled platforms, locomotives as well as electric and diesel drivetrains.
  • Bunkers and equipment for storage of loose materials.
  • Gravitational chutes and feed stream mechanical dividers.

  • Cutter heads of mining machines (e.g. shearers, dredger cutters).

Designs and documentations as well as modelling of production systems are realized with use of state-of-the-art information technologies and state-of-the-art CAD-3D designing methods.

Within the scope of vertical transport KOMAG offers as follows:
  • concepts, design projects and technical documentations of hoisting machines,
  • concepts, design projects and technical documentations of equipment used in mine hoists,
  • concepts, design projects and technical documentations of hoisting machinery assemblies, in particular of brake control units,
  • approval documentations of hoisting machines and their sub-assemblies as well as of equipment used in mine hoists,
  • auxiliary documents for the basic documentatio of mine shaft hoists and lists of changes,
  • strength analyses of mine shaft hoists and hoisting machines, using FEM methods,
  • laboratory tests of brake control systems,
  • supervision over start-up of hoisting machines and their sub-assemblies.
Designing of hoisting machines and their sub-assemblies as well as of shaft equipment is performed with CAD/CAE methods. The designing process in the scope of strength analyses is aided with advanced software based on FEM.
 
KOMAG has an expert authorization No. 162/2009 for mining plant operation, issued by the State Mining Authority, enabling to perform tests and develop opinions on hoisting machines.

In the field of modelling and ergonomics methods we offer:

  • Ergonomic analyses, covering among others testing the range of limbs, field of vision, comfort zones, made according to the PN-EN 894 and PN-EN ISO 6682 Standards.
  • Analyses and shaping the relationships in anthropometric systems of complex mechanical systems based on author’s methods using the computer models of work and machines environment.
  • Early identification of technical hazards and health risk during operation of mechanical systems  (with use of Virtual Reality)
  • Expert opinions, prepared upon the court request, to recreate accidents and their causes.
  • Visualization of accidents circumstances and causes, creation of multimedia training materials presenting progress of events in a form of computer animation or video recording of the real places.
  • Development of interactive training materials, so called Serious Games, using state-of-the-art solutions of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality based on authors computer programmes and commercial graphic engines.
  • Creation of technical manuals, which include applications of differentiated functionality, realized by the author’s INSTO system. Preparation of the solution basing on S1000D, MIL-PRF-87268A standards in a version for desktop computers, mobile devices or in a form of internet applications,
  • Creation of internet application enable data collecting, achieving and processing, basing on own software programme solutions (PHP, JavaScript, MySQL)
  • Preparation of information materials illustrating the principle of operation of machines and equipment including advertising materials for the purpose of trade fairs and exhibitions,
  • Construction of mobile simulators for machines operation for the purpose of trainings (application recreating working environment and the selected subassemblies of the machine + real control components like remote controller or control panel)
  • Digitalization of movement of human silhouettes using the Motion Capture method with application of state-of-the-art IPI Soft solutions.

 

Activity in the field of virtual prototyping methods:

  • static calculations with use of Finite Elements Method (FEM), including linear and non-linear models of materials,
  • optimization of shape of spatial computational models (topographic optimization),
  • thermal numerical calculation,
  • numerical strength calculations of toothed gears,
  • calculations of dynamic phenomena with material and geometrical non-linearity (contact effects)  included – impact loads, simulations of collisions,
  • Multibody System (MBS) analyses, which enable to assess the kinematics and dynamics of multibody systems and to define the boundary conditions for FEM,
  • verification and validation of computational models,
  • creation of advanced Internet applications aiding engineering work,
  • numerical calculations for visualization of accidents, damages of technical means,
  • numerical calculations of flow of liquids and gases with use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method, including multi-phase analyses.

Examples of the project within the virtual prototyping:

  • Safe Trans Design (STD) modular system for shaping the safety during underground transportation
  • Identification of dynamic loads acting on load-bearing components of suspended monorail tracks
  • Dynamic loads acting on operators of suspended monorails
  • Determination of coefficients of static stability of machines for the set operational and load conditions
  • Strength analysis of the system for stabilization of angular gears
