Machinery Requirements – Directive 2006/42/EC

In order to be able to legally place a product on the market, the manufacturer needs to carry out tests and a product evaluation confirming that the product they manufacture is safe and that they can declare that it complies with the applicable technical requirements.

Attestation Research Department Certification Unit carries out the assessment of conformity of products with the essential requirements of Directive 2006/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 May 2006 on machinery, amending Directive 95/16/EC, which was implemented into Polish law by the Regulation of the Minister of Economy of 21 October 2008 on essential requirements for machinery (Journal of Laws No. 199, item 1228, as amended).

The examinations necessary to confirm that the machine meets the essential health and safety requirements of the MD Directive are carried out in accredited KOMAG Institute testing laboratories (AB 039 and AB 665).

As part of the authorisation and notification granted to the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology in the field of conformity assessment - the Certification Unit carries out assessment for the following groups of products:
Underground machinery of the following types:

  • locomotives and brake cars,
  • hydraulic powered roof supports.
