The course will be available in 4 languages: English, Spanish, Polish and Slovene.

The laboratories developed and validated a series of new testing methodologies, which were verified by the Polish Centre for Accreditation and then included in new scope of accreditation.

At present all KOMAG’s accredited laboratories

are authorized to carry out the tests in a flexible scope of accreditation.

Flexible scope of accreditation enables adding the parameter for testing and changing the measuring range for a given method by using own modified methods, up-dated standard methods and by implementation of new own and standard methods.

We inform you that from 27 December 2015 the requirements for using the harmful substances in consumer products made of plastics or rubber were stringed by the Regulation of European Commission  (EC) No. 1272/2013, replacing the Regulation  (EC) No. 1907/2006 – REACH. The limitation concerns Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons – PAHs, in German Polyzyklische Aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe – PAK, classified, according to the Regulation  (EC) No. 1272/2008 – CLP, as the carcinogenic substances of 1B Category. The following substances belong to this group: Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), Benzo[e]pyrene (BeP), Benzo[a]anthracene (BaA), Chrysene (CHR), Benzo[b] fluoranthene (BbFA), Benzo[j]fluoranthene (BjFA), Benzo[k]fluoranthene (BkFA), Di-benzo[a,h]anthracene (DBAhA).

KOMAG Institute organized the Kick-off and Steering Committee meeting of OVOMAX project on 1st December. OVOMAX project aims to develop of contents and implementation of an online free access course dedicated for Medical Device designers of custom-made medical devices. The e-learning tool resulting from the project will be available online in 4 European languages (English, Spanish, Polish and Hungarian) in order to increase acceptance of the e-learning course. Among others, the e-course will contain production process of custom-made medical devices.

The 17th Moscow International Salon of Inventions and Innovation Technologies “Archimedes” was held from 1st to 4th April 2014. Its jury awarded “UO-400-02 small-size dust collector” with the Gold Medal.

The device was developed at KOMAG in collaboration with WIROMAG.

Project co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund within the Regional Operational Programme for Silesian Voivodeship for 2007-2013

“Expansion of laboratory infrastructure at the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology to carry out the tests for safe use of products” project, which started in July 2012, was completed in December 2013. In 40% the project was financed by the European Union within the European Regional Development Fund – Action 1.3. “Technology and innovation transfer" of the Regional Operational Programme for Silesian Voivodeship for 2007-2013. Remaining project expenses were covered by KOMAG. The project enabled modernization of the test stands in the Laboratory of Tests and in the Laboratory of Modelling Methods and Ergonomics as well as to implement management system in the KOMAG’s laboratories.

We are glad to inform that the paper “Quai-static analysis of cooperation of trybologic pair of drive wheel and rack bar in the advance system of longwall shearer” presented by Adam Zachura from KOMAG during the Symulacja 2014 Conference took the first place.
Conference Symulacja 2014 is addressed to the managers, product development engineers and specialists involved in numerical analyses in research projects. This meeting gives a possibility to be acquainted with possibility of applications of the ANSYS software programme in different branches of industry.

We are glad to inform that the Jury of International Poznan Fair INNOVATIONS-TECHNOLOGIES-MACHINES POLAND awarded a Gold Medal to KOMAG for “KOGAster Intrinsically Safe Control System”.
This awarded system is the result of collaboration between KOMAG and GABRYPOL Sp. J. Z. i R. Juszczyk.

KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology hosted the third consortium meeting of the LapFORM project in Gliwice on October 7th. The main objective of LapForm project is the development of the contents and the implementation of an online course to assure surgeons and laparoscopic instruments designers a worthy education and training along their professional career regarding ergonomics applied to laparoscopy, matching product innovation with the needs of laparoscopic surgeons and the latter with their working environment.

We are pleased to inform that the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology has extended its services by certification of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
KOMAG has got accreditation of the Polish Centre for Accreditation No. AC 165 in the scope of certification of management systems for conformity with  ISO 9001, for the factories manufacturing the following products:
- Metals and metal goods
- Machines and accessories
- Electric and optic devices.

Three testing laboratories at our Institute underwent joint assessment made by the Polish Centre for Accreditation. It was the first assessment realized at KOMAG in so-called integrated system where all laboratories were assessed according to the same criteria at the same time by a seven-person team of auditors.

The representatives of the China National Coal Group Corporation (ChinaCoal) and its subsidiaries China National Coal Mining Equipment Co., Ltd. (CME) and ChinaCoal Zhangjiakou Coal Mining Equipment Co., Ltd. (CCZMM), who were the members of the official Chinese delegation accompanying the Prime Minister Mr. Wen Jiabao, visited KOMAG on 1st May 2012.
Professor Pu Jin, Vice President of ChinaCoal, led an eight-person delegation.

Accredited Laboratory of Material Engineering and Environment in KOMAG has completed interlaboratory comparisons programme entitled: “Testing of proficiency in determination of global migration from polyethylene film” with very high rating.  Laboratory of Department of Food Research in National Institute of Public Health – National Institute of Hygiene was the organizer of comparison tests.

It is our pleasure to inform that the Laboratory of Material Engineering and Environment at the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology was authorized for testing in elastic range of accreditation in chemistry.
Elastic range of accreditation means that in the above mentioned field of activity the laboratory has a possibility to react to demands of its customers by modification of existing testing methods or including of additional testing methods to its range of accreditation with no need to inform the Polish Centre for Accreditation each time.
