Air-and-water spraying system for roadheaders and shearers – solution which is still improved

PROSTAŃSKI D., BAŁAGA D., ROJEK P., SEDLACZEK J.

Solutions of air-and-water spraying with the use of compressed air, designed for longwall shearers and roadheaders, which were developed at the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology, were discussed in the paper. Realization and results of stand tests of this solutions were presented. Present condition of implementation of these solutions and their evolution, which is a result of gained experience during mining in Polish collieries, were also presented.

Problems of safety of transportation with the use of floor-mounted railways and suspended monorails in inclined workings

DRWIĘGA A., JANAS S., SUFFNER H.]

Safety of transportation in inclined workings is a key problem which is reflected in regulations and used practical solutions. Problems of transportation safety as regards brakes and braking cars, which are used in transportation with the use of mining railways in inclined workings, and intention of using the camera for observation of track during manoeuvring pushing mode, when a load or platform blocks the field of vision, were discussed in the paper. Problems of regulations associated with above mentioned subject matter and gaps arising from continuous development of equipment were taken up. Amendment of PN-G-46860 Standard is planned by the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology in 2009. That is why a presentation of above mentioned problems in the paper can be an introduction to a discussion as regards this subject matter.

Loading of suspensions of coveyances during start-up of mining hoisting machine against a background of conducted experiment

WOLNY S.

Development of criteria for designing the components of mining hoisting machine, including fatigue life, requires determination of real (dynamic) values of loads. Load of e.g. conveyance suspension was determined after dynamic analysis of the system, which was verified by measurements of loads in the components during normal exploitation. Obtained results – values of loads in suspensions of conveyances – were given with the use of formulas in a general form, what will enable to extend obtained results to the whole range of equipment with hoisting machine at the hoist tower. Values of obtained loads can be the basis for conducting a strength analysis of above mentioned components.

Challenges and development tendencies in mechanization of hard coal mining industry

SIKORA W.

Challenges and trends, which mining technology has to face to meet the criteria of the European Union programme “Clean coal technologies”, were presented in the paper. Impact of development of longwall technology on a size of output was discussed and base of resources in Poland was characterized. Existing technological level as regards the use of longwall machines was discussed and development tendencies as regards longwall shearer technology as well as challenges and development tendencies as regards mechanization of hard coal mining industry were presented.

From the margin to the top – development of longwall mining system for coal seams in the usa within three decades

SMOLNIK G.

Progress of the longwall mining with roof caving in the USA was presented. Number of longwalls and their high productivity since 1976, based mainly on Prof. Syd S. Peng book (2006), were given. Mining heights, longwall lengths and widths, multiple entries and the support of the entries as well as face move were described. Evolution of development of shields (hydraulic powered supports), cutting machines (mainly shearers), AFC (armoured face conveyors) and coal transportation systems were shortly portrayed.

Use of cross analysis of impacts in foresight projects on the example of human resources for machine industry

KIEŁTYKA A.

Cross analysis of impacts was presented in the paper as a tool which is used in a strategic management and in foresight projects. MICMAC software was discussed and results obtained with its use for the purposes of so far unpublished report of machine industry thematic panel, within “Foresight of Human Resources of State-of-the-Art Economy” project, were presented.

Ensuring the quality of manufacturing of equipment designed for operation in areas of explosion hazard in the aspect of requirements of PN-EN 13980:2004 Standard

ZAJĄC R., FIGIEL A.

Manufacturer of equipment and/or protective systems uses the procedures for conformity assessment included in Enclosure 1 do 94/9/EC (ATEX), before commercialization of equipment and/or protective systems and depending on a group of equipment and its category. The use of quality system for production, control and tests, which is approved by a notified body, is a basic way to guarantee a conformity of products manufactured in series with a type described in a certificate of CE type testing. The paper aims to present one of the aspects of the process of conformity assessment of machines and equipment, designed for operation in atmosphere potentially threatened by explosion, which is associated with a method of ensuring repeatability of design features of products, which decide about effectiveness of used explosion protective measures during manufacturing. It consists in an implementation and maintenance of quality system which meets the set requirements.

Communication management – importance of internal information-and-communication

SKOŁUD B., DYMAREK E.

The essence of creation of information-and-communication network, which supports the project realization, was pointed out in the paper. Location of information during realization of project was presented on the example of the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology. Significant features of well-managed information and importance of searching and forming the suitable information, which is necessary for conducting a task in such a way to make work of designing team easier, were presented.
