    - maximal dimensions: 2000 x 2000 x 3000 mm,
    - range of temperature: (-75 ÷ +180) °C,
    - range of relative humidity: (10 ± 98)%.

  • clearance distances
  • separation distances through solid insulation
  • length of flameproof joints
  • radial clearances
  • clearances

equipment for measurements and tests:

  • measuring devices (callipers, gap gauges etc.)
  • instruments for checking and calibration of devices for geometrical measurements of class 1

Scope of tests:

  • testing global migration as well as specific migration of formaldehyde, bisphenol A, certain elements and primary aromatic amines from plastic products intended to come into contact with food according to the following requirements:
    • EU Regulation No. 10/2011 of 14 January 2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food,
    • PN-EN 1186-1, -3, -5, -7, -9, -14, -15 Standards: “Materials and articles to come into contact with foodstuffs. Plastics”,
    • PN-EN 13130-1, -13 Standards: “Materials and
articles to come into contact with foodstuffs. Plastics substances subject to limitation”.
  • Tests are performed with model liquids, using the following methods:
    • total immersion,
    • with application of measuring chamber,
    • with application of a bag,
    • by filling the product,
    • with application of substitution tests.

  • content determination of mercury, lead, cadmium and chromium (VI) for conformity with the following requirements:

    • 94/62/EC Directive on packaging and packaging wastes.

  • content determination of the following substances:
    • § formaldehyde in melamine-formaldehyde products intended to come into contact with food, according to PN-EN 71-9 and PN-EN 14372 Standards,

    • phthalates, cadmium, lead and PAHs in packaging and plastic articles intended to come into contact with children, for conformity with 1907/2006 Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EC) (REACH),
    • volatile substances as well as testing the migration of bisphenol A (BPA), and mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT), antioxidants and formaldehyde, according to PN-EN 14350, PN-EN 14372 Standards,
    • short-chain chlorinated paraffins SCCP, for conformity with Regulation (CE) No. 850/2004,

    • testing the migration of certain elements, according to the Directive No. 2009/48/EC.

High qualifications and proficiency of KOMAG Laboratory specialists in the scope of global and specific migration as well as tests for conformity with Directive No. 94/62/EC are confirmed by positive results of interlaboratory comparisons.

Since 2013 KOMAG Laboratory of Material Engineering and Environment has been participating regularly in interlaboratory comparisons of global migration organized by the National Institute of Public Health – National Institute of Hygiene (NIPH – NIH).
